Our new Christmas window is ready! As we specialise in making Wedding dresses for brides who want an individual and unique dress we wanted this Christmas window to inspire and show the possibilities. Covered in handmade flowers and beading this Ivory dress is a big as the wedding day itself.
Since September, whilst working as an intern at Incandescence Couture, the Christmas window dress has been my main project and with the help of Alison and Chris we have created this stunning dress.
We started by making a half scale model of the dress. When we were happy with the overall look and proportions we moved onto creating the full sized version with the skirt working out at 22 meters around the hem!!! The loose organza falling over the satin allows a light and elegant fairy tale look despite the amount of fabric in the skirt. Once the initial dress was put together it was time to build the under skirt. The underskirt has a unique petal shape at the front followed by the train shape at the back. The under skirt took over 40 meters of boning to create this very unusual shaped structure. The delicate embroidered and beaded motifs were all individually placed and hand sewn onto the organza to enhance the way the petal underskirt folds underneath the dress, with the embroidery cascading from the waist in droplets. Each of the handmade flowers that cover the dress were cut from the organza to match the skirt and give softer look to the petals, these are finished with crystal and pearl centres designed to glitter and shine. After many hours of hand sewing this magical fairy-tale dress is complete and fit for any princess bride on her special day.
