About us

Incandescence Couture is owned by  Christine Wood and Alison Woodhouse.

Our aim is to create a business where we can use our own creativity to make beautiful unique pieces but also where others can use their own creativity and learn new skills.

Christine Wood

I am married to Richard and we have 4 children and 6

grandchildren and they continue to be my inspiration for

everything I do. We are part of a very large and close-knit family

and it is fantastic that I am beginning this new venture with

my niece, Alison.  After leaving school at 16 I studied at the

London College of Fashion, before starting up my own

business creating bespoke wedding dresses which I did for 13 years.

I later went on to become a teacher and have taught  GCSE and A-level Textiles at two local secondary schools for the past 15 years; during that time I have helped many students gain places to study fashion related courses at universities across the country. I have also had the opportunity to train Textile teachers. I love learning and sharing the skills I have developed over the years with people of all ages.

I love to learn new skills and I have recently been developing my skills in millinery and have enjoyed the process of creating elaborate hats and fascinators for the shop and I am looking forward to finding more ways in which to be creative in this new venture.

Textiles is not just my job, it is my passion.  I love learning new skills but my real passion is for teaching and seeing my students getting as excited about textiles as I am. I know that The Studio will be an exciting workshop space for people of all ages.

Alison Woodhouse

Hi I'm Alison, I studied Fashion Design at De Montfort University

specialising in Knitwear and showcased my Knitwear collection at

Graduate Fashion Week 2012. I went on to an internship in London for Elisa

Palomino creating a ready-to-wear collection for London Fashion Week.

To develop my industry experience I accepted a post as a

knitwear designer in Kuwait, working abroad liaising with factories

in Asia and the Far East.  Since being back in England I have expanded

my knowledge of the fashion industry as a garment technologist at Joe Browns.

I am passionate about learning both traditional and modern crafts and then combining them to create unique designs.

At Incandescence Couture we are always looking to  gain new experiences and learn new skills. We love to develop and  create new and innovative ideas. We are sure that your involvement with Incandescence Couture will ignite your creative flare and provide you with a unique and special experience, that you will never forget.
